Stayed at Holiday Inn Express after Tru by Hilton and it felt like I escaped a hotel designed by a focus group of 19-year-olds. At Tru, breakfast was giving “free sample at a grocery store” and the room felt like a loud IKEA display. At Holiday Inn Express, the food was hot, the coffee had a pulse, and I actually slept instead of listening to air unit squeeking all night. Turns out I don’t need trendy. I need edible eggs and peace. Holiday Inn wins.
We needed a local place to stay while our wood floors were being refinished. So glad we chose the Holiday Inn Express. All the staff were very helpful during our 3-day stay. The breakfast was fresh and abundant!
We drove about 4 hrs away for a tournament.The casino is not at the hotel it's about 5-10 mins away just FYI. But we were suppose to have 2 queen beds but ended up with 1 king and a bigger room. Which was kinda frustrating they don't know what happened but we made it work. Also the price was about $40 more then what we were told on the phone when making are reservation which was also frustrating. But housekeeping was on top of it, and asked if we needed anything. Are wipes for our toddler ended up missing, I don't know if they accidentally got put in with are dirty towels or what, but they offered to buy us new ones which was sweet. And they had LOTS of options for breakfast which was nice with a picky toddler.
We have found the Holiday Inn Express to be a great hotel. We’ve used for work and vacations. The staff has always been friendly and courteous. The service is fast. I recommend using Holiday Inn Express whenever you need a hotel. Prices are usually really reasonable.
A very good stay. The rooms are immaculate, quiet and cozy. The staff are invitingly friendly and extremely accommodating. They have plenty of parking all around the hotel and I easily fit my Kenworth Box truck on the lot. Tge roads all around this area are easy to navigate and there are plenty of shopping options for food and your various other needs. I didn't eat breakfast which is a norm for me so I can't give a review on that. I would most assuredly recommend this location and will be staying here again. Addendum: I got the pleasure of meeting Yami last night as she was my hostess. Yami is amazing!! She was warm, inviting and very friendly. She is most assuredly a reason I will be coming back to this location.

The front desk team immediately stepped in, ensured my privacy, and quite literally covered for me without hesitation or judgment. Their instinct was not procedure first, but human dignity first — something you cannot train, only instill through strong values and leadership. Beyond that moment, the hotel itself was clean, quiet, and well maintained. But what truly defines Holiday Inn Express & Suites South Bend - Casino is its people. They turned what could have been an embarrassing experience into one where I felt respected and genuinely taken care of. This is hospitality done right.
